LongLine wines started in 2012 by Paul and Martine Carpenter with the vision of producing wines that represent the best of McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. Paul has made wine for a range of highly respected wineries including Wirra Wirra Vineyards and Hardys Tintara, in McLaren Vale and internationally with Domaine de la Janasse in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Archery Summit in Oregon and Chateau du Bluizard in Beaujolais.

A McLaren Vale local and from a family of local farmers, Paul originally started his professional life as a cereal researcher for Adelaide University but a vintage job at Geoff Merrill at the end of his university studies flicked a switch that led Paul to finally establish LongLine Wines. The aim is to produce distinctive wines made entirely by Paul & Martine, every plunge of the ferments and every barrel filled and emptied, to produce small parcels of wines made in the vineyard. Fruit from vineyard sites selected from nearly 2 decades of walking vineyards in these 2 great regions.

The vineyard parcels come from growers who understand their sites and what it takes to grow outstanding fruit. The winemaking philosophy is simple. Wines made honestly and simply that challenge but more importantly speak of their vineyard origin.
