The Adelaide Hills starts around 25 minutes from Adelaide City, and covers a number of townships and various terroir throughout. It has the Barossa to the Northern Border, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale to it’s South. The wines of the Adelaide Hills exhibit more delicate cool climate flavours than those of it neighbours and Adelaide Hills is arguably Australia’s premier site for Sauvignon Blanc, producing pure and intense wines that show off a renowned tropical fruit flavour and aroma spectrum. Chardonnay has been planted more wide spreadly in recent years, and is making some of the worlds best examples of the variety. Pinot Noir has always been a constant in the hills despite being a little troublesome in some vintages. The Shiraz from Adelaide Hills usually exhibit a more uplifted bouquet with gentle spice and less intense rich fruit to it’s closest other region McLaren Vale.
